How To Build Quality Blog Traffic

Posted in blogging challenges on Feb 28, 2009

Traffic building is the most crucial factor that will decide on the fate of any blog after it has been set up. Most bloggers are confident that if they have all the meta tags, lots of keywords and site validation OK means they will be assured of traffic. Let me tell that all those factors from validation to meta tags brings traffic at the expense of quality traffic.

Use Of Keywords

Quality blog traffic are visitors who would have found your site useful which matches the queries of visitors who had typed a phrase or a word in search engine boxes like Google or Yahoo. The secret for a likeable blog in this millennium is how relevant your blog to searches. When a visitor finds your site by a certain use of keyword and if he finds it relevant to his searches he will likely be a quality traffic. Use Wordtracker which is a free keyword suggestion tool. Be specific in your keyword selection. Even if you have found a keyword to have high search ratings there is no harm if you can choose a similar word with low search ranking but matches your content.

Search engines are a recent discovery somewhere in the 1990s which helps to bring up a web page and its information to the user who keys in a word or phrase search.  If for example, you search for the phrase ‘personal development’ you have over 100,000,000 blogs or websites surrounding this niche. The next question is this - how do you beat this kind of competition?

Twitter For Traffic

It is an undeniable truth that content building in blogs must be an ongoing process but how to fish traffic is equally important.Writing good articles is like having a shop with goods. But if you do not make your blog or site known to the online population no one knows that it exist. Your blog is just a speck of the millions of blogs out there. No one knows that you are having a shop full of goods.

TWIITER FOR TRAFFIC

All bloggers face traffic building problem in the short run. All they need is to twitter people into their blogs after having a reasonable number of blog post . How to drive traffic towards your blog is all hardwork.

Search optimization, pay per click, article writing, video marketing, viral marketing, affiliate marketing and social media marketing are some of the avenues new bloggers can try out to bring in traffic. I will discuss them separately in my future blog post. But before you twitter for traffic the one thing you have to do consistently is building good content.

Content Is Still King

A blog is easy to set up. But it is a long route to build up traffic. Before you twitter for traffic you need to understand that you need to build good content. The keyword phrase here ‘good content’. There are no rules of how many posts you need to build before you twitter for traffic- perhaps 20 good articles. When I say good I mean articles relevant to your blog niche.

If you visit a blog with very short articles the likelihood of hitting the back button is high. An article should be at least 400 to 700 words long. Too short means you have not taken effort. The posting of articles must be also consistent as googles rank a blog high for consitent postings. If you have decided to post 3 days per article then I suggest you make at least 9 articles ready and post each article automatically after every 3 days. In this manner you stay consistent in the eyes of google. :)

Even if you are a full time blogger posting article everyday does not make a blog better. Rather what you write about is also a concern for vistors. Write differently and argue in a more cogent manner which definitely attract visitors to your blog. If a blog says procrastination is bad do you find anything good in procrastination? Stand out of the crowd and people will know you.

Write good contents using matching keywords and twitter for traffic

The first thing you need to know if you want to build traffic is to understand the blog competition. There are so many blogs out there doing the same thing as you are. 100 million blogs on personal development is a tough competiion. Therefore, you need to beat all these blogs to move up to the top of the competition. Write good contents using matching keywords and twitter for traffic :)
