Actify Singapore Earthday
Earth hour a month ago and now earth day arrives in Singapore. April 22 marks the annual celebration of earth Day. It is a day to remember Mother Earth bringing together environmentalist and Singapore community at large, to foster reverence and care for planet earth.
Singapore is a green city – not by nature but by the effort of the relevant Authorities concerned and other stake holders. If you are a tourists you will be amazed of how a concrete city lies beneath the lush green that are scattered everywhere in an organized pattern. At every 8 meters of linear space you will find a tree. As a Singaporean by birth I became very attracted to lush and greens surrounding the city. Though you can become unaware of your surroundings sometimes but there are moments I fully enjoy the pacifying greeneries and the shade of tree – that is really soothing 
Planet earth has given its life to all lives. As a concious human being why not give something back to Mother Nature. Every country has its own agenda for earth day. This is what I am going to do during this earth day in Singapore :
Pledge
My family and I will take a pledge for the day to remember earth and make some earth-friendly resolutions we can all keep. We will only purchase recycled products, make the change to non-toxic cleaners and pesticides, purchase organic produce, walk to school or take a stroll to work.
Reduce Waste
I will clear all the things that is unwanted not by disposing it away but giving to the Red Cross Society or exchange it for cash. I can then donate the money for environmental cause. Perhaps I can give my old books away to the needy and charitable organisation.

Plant some plants
I will order some plants to fill the sandy gap of my estate with Polymnia Uvedalia plants in my work area. It is quite cheap and will only cost me 60 cents per bag. I will also with the help of my children make some potted plants around my home. This plant can be propogated with minimal management.
Pick at least 10 usable litters
It is quite hard to find litters in Singapore. However, I will try my best to pick up at least 10 usable litters on this day and throw them into the recycle bins that I can find. Perhaps I will write to the department concern to put up more recycling bins in and around my estate.
Purchase Online
I will get my credit card ready by the end of this month and try online purchasing. In this manner, I do not need to travel which cuts pollution from car travel. I will stay online for only one hour during earth day.

Switch Off All House Power
My family and I decided to switch off all the non essential electricity at home especially at night and go to our nearby park to chit chat and spend our time there. I am going to take leave and go to the beach during the day with my family. We do not need to use the non essential electricity in my home. Great savings too!
