Blog Short And Make It Tweeeeeeeeeeet
When Prologue was introduced I thought micro blogging has captured the heart of wordpress. I just got into my wordpress administration section and found wordpress is encouraging bloggers to shorten their URLs by using WP.me.
How To Use It
Whenever you edit or post an article, there is now a “get shortlink” button next to your permalink. And when you click it you will get a pop up with a pretty link already highlighted for you to copy and paste.
If you are logged in you can get the shortlink for any pages on WordPress.Com – there is a link under the “blog infor” menu in your admin bar.
Slogan of WP.me
- It is the only two-letter domain in the world
- All blog and post on wordpress has a link url now
- These are all exposed in the ,head. using rel=shortlink
- It does not work for any URL in the world, just wordpress.com – hosted ones
- The links are permanent – work as long as wordpress is around
- It is spam free – closely monitored and spam removed.

Plus Point
Shorten URL is pretty to look like wearing a cloak – at least in blogoshpere
It helps to read speedily – we are in the rushy world after all
It should speed up inter communication – logically
Paving a way for mashable blogging – long story make short and simple
Minus Point
Keywords can be affected – thus Google ranking
Does not elicit high degree of trust : it gives an impression of being spammy and virulent link
You got to live with it – at least in blogoshpere
