How To Make Healthy Olive Roti Prata At Home
Roti Prata is a delicacy in my country. But I have not seen one is being made with olive oil. What is behind olive oil magic? Well it contains polyphenols that activate the Phase 2 enzyme system, which turns hazardous substances into water-soluble compounds that can be excreted through urine or bile. Olive oil contains mostly mono unsaturated fats, which are more stable than other fats and therefore less likely to form cancer-causing compounds. OK this is my receipe :
You need the following :
- flour – 3 cup
- a pinch of salt
- a pinch of sugar
- water
- olive oil
Method
- Mix flour, sugar and salt with water and egg
- Knead to form smooth soft dough
- Pluck a small portion of dough and try to roll into a tennis ball size
- Rub it with a little olive oil and cover it
Note : you should be able to get a dozen balls of dough at the end and below is a video on how to make a basic dough.
Next day
- Take a ball of dough and flatten till it expands to its limit
- Hold on both ends and flip it in the air in a circular motion to stretch it till you see a translucent film of dough
- Hold both ends of the dough and make it into a spiral ball at your palm and place it for 30 minutes
Fry It With Olive Oil
- Take the spiral dough and flatten it with both hands
- It should come like a square shape or round shape
- Take it and fry it in the flat iron wok
