Prophet Muhammad Timeless Superstar
Do you ever think of being a superstar? That person is widely acclaimed, as in movies or sport, and has great popular appeal. That person is extremely popular or prominent or one who is a major attraction. That person is a celebrity. That person is immortal. That person has incomparable skill and talent – someone who is dazzling. One such superstar I know of is Prophet Muhammad (May God’s Peace and blessing Be upon him) who lived in Mecca in the seventh century.
Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) was born in Mecca on 9 June Year 632. He was the final Prophet – a restorer of the monotheistic faith of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and other eminent prophets. Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) is the most influential figure in history.
Prophet Muhammad birthday celebration
On Friday, 2 April 2010 a small celebration was held at the Tampines Stadium in Singapore. Groups of people marched a 400 meter walk under the glaring sun carrying their respective organisation’s banners. We still remember this great figure even though over a thousand of year have passed by since Prophet’s time. Jesus is more popular than Muhammad in Google search. But Michael Hart’s The 100: A Ranking Of The Most Influential Persons In History tells a different story.
” My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely succesful on both the religious and secular levels. It is this unparalleled combination of secular and religious influence which I feel entitles Muhammad to be considered the most influential single figure in human history” -Michael H Hart
I have collected some of the sayings of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) below :
- The Messenger of God said, ‘God says, “I live up to My servant’s exepectations. I am with him every time that he mentions Me. If he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to Myself. If he mentions Me in company, I mention him in even better company. If he draws near to Me by a span, I draw near to him by a cubit. If he draws near to Me by a cubit, I draw near to him by a fathom and if he walks towards Me, I quicken My pace towards him” ‘ SB 9.148 Abu Hurayra
- God has not sent any sickness down to earth without at the same time sending a cure for it. SB 7.158 Abu Harayra
- Avoid Hell by giving charity, even if it means sharing your last date (fruit date), and, if you have nothing at all, by speaking a kind word. SB8.144 ‘Adiyy b. Hatim
- It is for the plaintiff to bring proof. The oath is the prerogative of the defendant. MM 3769, T, the grandfather of Shu’ayb
- For two people who love each other, you will find nothing to compare with marriage. MM 3093, IM, Ibn ‘Abbas
- May God have mercy on the person who is generous when he buys, when he sells and when he asks to be repaid. SB3.75, Jabir b. ‘Abdullah
- Three things are characteristic of a hypocrite: when he speaks he lies, when he makes a promise he fails to keep it, and when you put your trust in him he betrays it. SB 1015 Abu Hurayra
